Files and folders

Learn how to browse and manage files and folders inside a workspace.

The file browser is the main place where you work with content inside a workspace. Content means the files and folders stored in that workspace.

A file is one item, such as a document, image, spreadsheet, or other piece of content. A folder is a container that helps you group files and other folders.

Find your way around

At the top of the file browser, you can see a breadcrumb path. A breadcrumb path is a row of folder names that shows where you are. Use it to move back to an earlier folder.

You can open a folder to go inside it. You can also refresh the view. Refresh means asking the page to load the latest list of files and folders.

Some files can open in a fullscreen view. Fullscreen means the file fills most or all of your screen so you can focus on it.

Upload files

You can upload files by choosing them from your device. You can also upload whole folders, or drag and drop files and folders into the file browser.

Drag and drop can be faster

You can drag files or folders from your device and drop them into the file browser to upload them.

Open the upload action

Choose the upload action in the file browser.

Choose what to upload

Pick files, or choose a whole folder if that option is available.

Confirm the upload

Follow the prompts from your browser. The items are added to the current folder.

Or drag and drop

Drag files or folders from your device into the file browser. Drop them when the browser shows that upload is ready.

Create or enter a folder

Folders help you keep related files together. For example, you might use one folder for contracts and another for images.

Create a folder

If the file browser shows a create folder action, choose it and enter a short, clear name.

Open a folder

Select a folder to enter it. The breadcrumb path changes to show your new location.

Go back

Use the breadcrumb path to return to a parent folder. A parent folder is the folder that contains the folder you are in.

Rename an item

Renaming changes the name of a file or folder. It does not change where the item is stored.
